Since birth Lauren Jayne has been refusing to accept that where she came from would dictate where she ended up.
From her nursery school days spent hop-scotching over the tiled floors of her parents topless jazz club in Sydney Australia, to her adolesnece spent visiting her volatile dad in prison, she kept her focus on one dream. “Just because I’m growing up like this, doesn’t mean I will end up like this.”
After a lifetime of constant observance of what was going on around her and to her, studying everything she could on the topic and graduating from the University of Washington and eventually breaking the cycles of abuse that she grew up with, she started putting her theories to the test.
Working with countless non-profits that focus on at risk youth, in places of worship, corporations and in our schools, she’s helped and been witness to countless people changing their lives by ending these cycles.
Q: Why have Lauren speak to my school, work, place of worship, book club, etc.?
A: When we are suffering, we feel alone, alienated, shameful. Lauren Jayne immediately disarms her audiences and has an uncanny ability to unify people and remove shame from even the most difficult topics.
Q: How will having Lauren Jayne speak benefit our students/ employees, congregants?
A: These damaging cycles can rule our lives and occupy our minds. Lauren Jayne teaches us, in an hour how to recognize a bad cycle and make a plan to change it. Going through this process together brings people closer and increases the bond amongst the attendees.
When we feel a part of a team or community, when we no longer feel alone and shrouded with shame, this is when we can do our best work.
